What counts as “free”?
On RVingLife, a station is marked free when there's no fee to dump your tanks. That includes municipal sani-dumps, rest area dumps, courtesy dumps at truck stops, and campgrounds that let non-guests dump at no charge. Stops that are free only to their guests, their members or with a purchase are included too, and each one says which condition applies. Donation stations are listed as donation, not free.
Where to find free dump stations
- Municipal campgrounds, fairgrounds, and city rest areas
- National forests and BLM land in the US
- Provincial parks and visitor centres in Canada
- Truck stops with courtesy dump points
- Big-box store partnerships and select rest stops
Tips for using free stations responsibly
Free stations stay open thanks to RVer goodwill. Bring your own hose, leave the area cleaner than you found it, and consider dropping a small donation if there's a tip jar. It helps keep these resources around for everyone.
